The History of Katjes

1950年

It all began with a little cat

...or rather with a liquorice recipe brought

or rather with a liquorice recipe brought along by Xaver Fassin,
from Sicily! He passed this recipe on to his son Klaus. What did he, in turn, do with it?
He made liquorice of course and this in the form of a small black cat. He called it “Katjes”

which is Dutch and means “little cat”.
You might however now be asking yourself why the decision was made for a little kitten.
For us, the figure of a cat is both a talisman as well as a popular figure…
